Black Wing Bird 7pm
Having released his debut album as Black Wing Bird earlier this year, former Dead Cat Bounce frontman James Walmsley comes to Carlow Arts Festival for the first time. Expect powerful, lyrical love songs with echoes of Cave, Cohen and Dylan. ‘Beautiful stuff’, BBC Introducing.
Treelan is made up of Martin Tourish a member of traditional supergroup Altan, Éamonn Cagney Ireland’s premier hand drum percussionist, and Niwel Tsumbu one of Europe’s top guitarists. Together they bring their audiences on an uplifting and enlivening musical journey through many styles including Irish improvised music showcasing the virtuosity, creativity and cross-genre explorations of this high-calibre trio With their very busy international schedules this is a concert not to be missed!
Hitting Carlow before their Body&Soul gig, brand new Alt-R&B band BARQ have just released their debut single “Gentle Kind of Lies”, in March 2016 and are currently preparing for the launch of their second single this coming May. . BARQ are a high energy 4-piece, fronted by acclaimed vocalist Jess Kav.
