Assembly is the new arts participation and community engagement strand of Carlow Arts Festival.
Assembly aims to draw together people living in Carlow to collaborate with the festival and with local and national artists to create innovative multidisciplinary arts projects all year-round, and in so doing, spark a sense of collective joy through arts engagement.
It is long-term embedded, artistic engagement on a local level: we want to create a sense of collective ownership of the festival, encourage interculturalism and the participation of a diversity of gender, age and abilities.
The first project under the Assembly banner is the festival’s Carnival of Collective Joy.
Later this year, The Long and Short of It, a Creative Ireland Project funded under the Creativity in Older Age Scheme will engage older communities (65+) across County Carlow – more will be revealed soon!
