Digging up the future

Behind Carlow College, St Patrick’s / 7-13 June / FREE

John Cullen

What if we tried to inverse the operation of history and archaeology? What would the layout and function of such spaces be like in the future? We will speculate what the future might hold, beyond the current utilisation of the grounds of Carlow College. The idea is to position a future archaeological dig that reveals a tennis court that over-rides the current functionality of the site. Its layout cuts through existing buildings, car parks, side walks etc, to foreground its imagined existence.
