Carlow Arts Festival is an annual multi-disciplinary arts festival which takes place in Carlow town.  Now in its 38th year, the festival fosters culture and the arts in all its forms, promoting the growth of visual art, theatre, music, dance, spectacle, multi-disciplinary arts and entertainment by offering wide-ranging artistic experiences and activities to appeal to a diverse domestic and international audience of all ages.  

Carlow Arts Festival has a strong history of presenting contemporary visual art in Carlow town. The festival builds on this legacy through constant development off the visual arts strand of the festival in a meaningful manner which is specific to the town. The Art WORKS and Site WORKS open calls, in partnership with VISUAL and Carlow Local Authority Arts Office, create opportunities for artists to create and show work in a gallery environment and in site specific locations throughout the town.  

The performing arts aspects of the Carlow Arts Festival emphasise accessibility and cross disciplinary programming. It ranges from international spectacle to national popular music acts, from circus to contemporary dance, and is designed to include programming that specifically appeals to family audiences.
