Carlow Sports Partnership
Sat 11 & Sun 12 June / Until 6pm
Join Carlow Sports Partnership for a whole day’s worth of fun sports activites on Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 June, with something to suit all ages. There’s also yoga both days too.
Come relax in this special room, set up in Carlow College, designed to develop a person’s sense through music and objects. This area is designed for children or adults with an intellectual disability to relax when over stimulated. Textured ball, fidget toys and bright coloured cups will all be available.
A fun-filled Active Hour with your family & friends. We will have Games & Challenges that will get your heart beating and your muscles smiling. Suitable for all levels of fitness.
Sports Hall Athletics – a form of track & field athletics for children between the ages of 4 & 16. It was created by George Bunner MBE to provide a safe and warm environment for young people to engage in fundamental movements.
Traditional Games – harken back to the golden age of the ‘egg and spoon race’. Enjoy traditional sports days games such as sack races, long jumps and more.
Pickleball – combines elements of badminton, tennis, and ping-pong. It’s played on a badminton-sized court with a slightly lowered tennis net and with light bats and a plastic ball with circular holes (a wiffle ball).
Balance Bikes – mini, “back to basics” bikes, with no chains, pedals or gears, so toddlers and pre-schoolers can just focus on balancing and steering, as safely as possible.
Activator Poles – an adaptation of Nordic Walking poles that have been developed by Canadian therapists to promote balance and improve mobility.
